Don’t set New Year’s Resolutions; set New Year’s Revolutions!

Revolutionize your life in 2008. Getting fit and in shape is one of the best ways to take control of your life so here’s 5 ways to help make ’08 great.

1 – Decide! The power of decision is enormous. The Latin root of the word decision means “to cut off from all alternatives”. You’re not saying ‘maybe’, you burn all bridges to the road back and the outcome is assured. You have certainty about the future because you KNOW that you are through with the past.

One Decision = One Path = One Outcome.

2– Get a great muscle building workout plan and implement the most anabolic bodybuilding diet there is. There is simply no way to naturally build more muscle without the fat than this. Implement it and stick to it forever. As you’ll be gaining muscle at a faster rate, you’ll feel the motivation to stay the course. There’s nothing worse than working hard and not getting results; after a short while you think, “What the hell is the point” and quit.

3 – Set Written Goals – Get your fitness goals and write them down. Get your goal e.g. I will be 10% body fat by February 20th 2008, and write it out on a card. Look at the card daily or as often as you can. The more you do this, the more your mind will accept it as a reality and move towards it.

Nick Auger4- Get Daily Inspiration – Watch or read something every single day to stay on course. If you don’t you may fall into bad habits again. When I was sculpting my body I used to look at pictures of a guy called Nick Auger (see right). Every time I didn’t feel like going and working out, I’d look at a picture or a video of that guy. Any time people around me were passing around buns or cakes at work, I could say ‘no’ a lot easier because I’d have that image burned indelibly into my mind.

5 – Start your day as you mean to go on! If you take one thing from this article it would be that you understand the immense power there is in building momentum for your day from the moment you wake up. Think about it; if you get up feeling lethargic with thoughts of self-pity, worry, frustration, or any negative emotion, it tends to permeate the rest of your day. You’re not going to want to workout in this state, so things have to change.

You can create your day the way you want. It all starts with the few minutes after you first open your eyes. I practice 4 things every morning upon rising:

  • Energizing Breathing exercises
  • Think of everything I am grateful for
  • Visualize and feel (emotionally) how I want my future to be
  • Incantations / Affirmations – Repeat any positive statement with emotion that makes me feel great

If you put this daily routine into practice in your own life, you’ll be vibrating with passion for the day ahead! I mean bursting with enthusiasm and confidence. It takes me about 15 – 20 minutes and it’s the most important part of my day. Please give yourself this gift, if you do it for one day, you’ll do it forever because you’ll experience the profound shift in your state of mind.
