I’m Sorry

by Mark McManus on September 10, 2008

I'm sorryI’m sorry.

  1. het spijt me
  2. Je suis désolé
  3. Es tut mir leid
  4. Sono spiacente
  5. Lo siento

    Why?
I was reviewing the progress of MuscleHack recently. One of the issues I wanted to look at was topics I have covered and topics I have yet to get into.

I realized something during that review, I have focused too much on low-carb nutrition at the expense of everything else.

When I think about my original intention for this site, I wanted to cover all nutritional approaches and help people reach their goals regardless of how they choose to eat.

I really wanted to spread the word about the benefits of low-carb nutrition, but I fear I may have allowed MuscleHack to become a fully fledged ‘Low-Carb’ bodybuilding blog.

So here’s what I’m going to do:

    1. Post articles and recipes for those following higher-carb diets
    2. Write more articles on exercise and working out
    3. Write more articles on motivation/personal development/improving your life
    4. I’ll be more active at the MuscleHack bodybuilding forum to field questions and for general chat
    5. I’ll soon be releasing a much more thorough and improved ‘Total Anabolism’ ebook for free.

Please leave me any suggestions you may have for the improvement of this site. From topics, writing style, design – ALL comments are welcome.

It only gets bigger and better from here!

    Your bud,

    Mark McManus

I personally wouldn’t like that change Marc. What I love about the site now is your consistent message and clarity. Food gets complicated (people make it complicated) but your message now is compelling: food is easy. And it has worked for me! I’d never thought I would ever loose that under-the-belly-button-fat, no matter what I’d do, but it’s all gone in exchange for bigger muscles than ever before. The main reason your advise helped me is because it’s easy to remember when I’m not in front of the computer but at the grocery store or in the gym.

    Thanks Daan,
I’ll take that into account. I’m glad you like the clarity of the site.
I’m really pleased about you losing that belly fat and building bigger muscles. Don’t worry, it won’t become confusing and I’ll see what others say.

you know what, since you’re using wordpress why not simply use tags and add all of this stuff and that way users looking up nutrition category articles can simply click ‘low carb’ tag to pull up all of the low carb and so on…

    4 Mark McManus September 10, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Yeah, I currently have all nutrition under the ‘bodybuilding diet’ category. I could split that up a bit and make it easier to follow.
    Thanks Dave

Oh, splitting it up is a great idea! I myself i’m mostly interested in the low carb and workout articles. But without other articles even those articles might get boring :-) . Keep up the great work, your site is definitely getting much better!
And btw it’s not “Ich bin traurig” (I am sad) in german but “Es tut mir leid” (I am sorry). Just wanted to mention that.
    Have a good one!

    6 Mark McManus September 10, 2008 at 8:54 pm

    Thanks for that Dorian.
    The German has been changed,
    Mark

    7 Daan September 10, 2008 at 9:02 pm

In that case: it’s not “ik ben droevig” in Dutch; it’s “het spijt me”.

    Ahh! Any more mistakes?

I really like your approach to this, but an apology is not needed. We all get wrapped up in these certain things and it’s easy to get distracted. I have a few suggestions as to adding to the site, some you already mentioned.

Add a food/supplement section with tips on healthy eating for muscle and losing/gaining weight.
Add an Exercise/fitness section that will focus on weight lifting, cardio, and other things like gym equipment as well.
Add a section for motivation/personal development/improving your life

I also noticed that some of the boxes on the right side don’t really do anything/kind of useless. It would help free up the clutter on the mainpage and it will load a lot faster as well.

Mark, no need to apologize. I like the fact that your site focuses on low-carb approaches to bodybuilding. There are many other bodybuilding sites that try to tackle every area of the field and fact is, I come here more than to any of those other sites because of the focus. Low-carb nutrtition has changed my life, my health, my self esteem, my body, my attitude… I think it’s great that you want to also minister to the higher-carb set, but honestly, I sorta skip over that material. After all the blog is based on your experience, on what has worked for you. Those of us that have patterned or practices after yours are all the better for it. Keep up the good work.

@ Jexxer. Thanks for your input. I’ve taken your points onboard. I’m actually working on a redesign at the moment.
@ Jerry. Thanks for the comments. I’m really please about your results and the fact that you’re a regular visitor to the site, thanks. I’ll still mainly focus on carb-cycling since it’s my chosen route, and I’ll create a sub-category for higher-carb nutrition for when I want to talk about that.
    Thanks everyone,
    Mark
